New Tour Company Shows off Winchester Food and History – A self-professed history buff, Misty Weaver saw that the city of Winchester was lacking a walking historical tour.
“My family will tell you that’s where I drag them every time we travel. And I realize not everyone loves history because of that, but everyone loves food!” said Weaver.
She started her own tour of downtown Winchester, packed full of historical anecdotes and stops at a number of locally owned restaurants. Weaver hopes to show tourists and locals alike what Winchester has to offer.
New Tour Company Offers a Taste of Winchester – From Pad Thai to apple pie, tiny tastes of local cuisine run the gamut in a new history and food tour conceived to promote downtown Winchester.
The tours provided by Taste Winchester History combine samples from downtown restaurants with a narrative conceived by tour founder, Misty Weaver.
Beginning at the south end of Loudoun Street Mall, walkers work their way from restaurant to restaurant. At each, there is a nibble or two to try, and between stops Weaver — or her husband, Anthony Morelli, who also leads groups — offers a narrative quirkier than the typical history tour, she said.
Yes, the Winchester Food Tour hit the airwaves On December 10th, 2018 with The River 95.3 WZRV FM, where Misty Weaver joined Janet Michael on The Valley Today podcast to talk food, beer, Winchester, history, and how all of that comes together for people to learn about the town in which they live or simply the town that they’re just visiting!
